More history...
We drank clear water from the natural spring by the house (there are 4 other springs), ate fish from our pond and deer, turkey, and duck that we hunted on our own land during the hunting seasons.
We had mountain ponies, goats, cows, pigs, chickens, and of course, all the wildlife such as deer, turkey, beautiful wild birds, and even once a panther and an elk!!! The large pond is full of blue gills and bass, probably trout as well. There are also the beautiful cattails & many bullfrogs. We used the pond to have rowing contests. I remember how Dad cleared out a bunch of cattails to make a small beach so that we kids could go swimming in the summer. This ranch is the epitome of the WV license plate "Wild, Wonderful West Virginia!"
